Cycling two days in a row!

Yesterday’s ride was especially nice, in part because I had Saturday and Sunday to rest. The weather was perfect like Baby Bear’s porridge – not too hot, not too cold, but juuust right. Today’s weather is the same. It’s some kind of wonderful out there this time of year. Birds are everywhere. My legs were … [Read more…]

Hard-core cyclists are snobs

The weather is getting chilly in the mornings. I still wore my t-shirt and shorts, but I added a hoodie for good measure. The ride turned out nice, and there wasn’t any breeze. Quite a few people were out walking, and they almost always look and wave. Even the people in cars will wave. The … [Read more…]

Smelter Road on a bicycle – getting colder

Today the weather is clear and sunny, with not much of a breeze. It was really a nice ride up. I went 9.75 miles today, with an average speed of 12.9 and a top speed of 35.1. I forgot to watch the total time, but it was about 40 minutes. On the way up I … [Read more…]

Bike ride with the sun in my eyes

I was in a hurry this morning and only did a 6-mile ride. I was in such a hurry that I forgot my hat. Staring into the sun isn’t my favorite way to ride. The hat won’t be forgotten again. 🙂 Here are some some images of my scary skull bike!

On the road again

I’m not looking forward to the bike ride this morning. The idea of going out in the cold isn’t appealing. But, it’s got to be done. Cami and I had treats at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory yesterday after we picked up the ring. That dark chocolate coconut haystack was delicious, but it’s time to … [Read more…]

Where did this cold weather come from?

Last night the air was cold, so I had a feeling it would be even colder today. I also thought I heard thunder in the night. It was no surprise to find the morning rainy and wet. I put on an extra pair of shorts, and a hoodie over the top of my normal riding … [Read more…]

Smelter Road on a Bicycle – in the wind

Today’s ride wasn’t as fun because there was a lot of wind to contend with. But, on the positive side, the sun wasn’t slaying me like it would on a calm day. My speed averages were lower, but I went the same distance. It feels good to exercise, but my body has to be convinced … [Read more…]

Smelter Road Report – bicycle fun in Tooele Utah

It was another eventful ride to the NO TRESPASSING gate on Smelter Road. My top speed was 30.8mph, with a moving average of 12.5mph, and 9.62 total miles. The ride took about 46 minutes. Not bad. At least I can see that I’m getting better. The altitude change is about 400 feet. I would have … [Read more…]

Smelter Road with a bicycle and GPS

I rode to the NO TRESPASSING gate again. This time I took the GPS with me. It clips to my handlebars. My final distance was 9.66 miles, with a top speed of 28.8mph and an average speed of 11.8mph. My quads still burned quite a bit on the ascent, but I never had to stop. … [Read more…]

Even rode my bicycle in the rain

It wasn’t raining when I started. All the signs were present, but the rain wasn’t coming down. I took a chance on Smelter Road. The rain won. Sure I could have turned around to avoid the deluge, but what fun would that be? Good thing I didn’t bring my phone with me. I was totally … [Read more…]
