Through thick and thin and rain and snow and ice

This morning I awoke to a pounding sound, similar to someone chopping wood. I looked out the window to find a woman pounding on the windows of her car with an ice scraper, trying to get the layer of ice off. The news had warned of ice, but I haven’t ever experienced anything quite like this. Everything was covered in a thin sheet of ice about a quarter of an inch thick:

I didn’t end up going to work. I checked my email from the motel room and got the message that the office was closed for today. Working from “home” was what most of us did, although I prefer the chair at work. My car is cleared of ice now, so if tomorrow looks better, I’ll be driving in.
